Cuphead's levels are constructed like those of all retro-style platformers. In order to get around obstacles and avoid traps, you'll need to run short distances. In addition, you must accumulate coins in order to purchase essential upgrades and weapons that will increase your chances. You can also dash sideways to avoid an attack or obstacle and double jump on your enemies to absorb their hits in addition to the usual jumps and turns. You can fire in any one of the eight directions and have a super shot that needs to be charged before it can be used, so you shouldn't use it too often.
